5 Years...

Wow - Saturday was Sal and My 5th Wedding Anniversary. We got married on Superbowl weekend (we don't watch football so this wasn't a really big deal) and this year it fell on the same weekend again! We've only gone out of town once before for our anniversary, and needless to say it left a lot to be desired *sigh* that's another story in and of it self! I digress...this year Sal is taking me on a mini get away!!! We are going to Houston for the weekend, leaving Isaac with my mom and dad :)

We're staying at Hotel Derek , eating at Churrascos and going dancing Friday!! We've never done anything like this before and I am so excited! I made the link to the hotel because I told my friend Shannon I had to stay there because of the pictures of the bathrooms, crazy I know but they look amazing!!!! We are also going to check out Central Market and Dave & Busters and of course IKEA!!! WOOOHOO!!

We leave Friday!! I will post pictures of our adventure when we get back. Until then, I need some advice from my seasoned mommy friends. How did you make leaving your little ones for the first time easier (on them and you)? I want to really enjoy my time with Sal but I have a feeling come oh I'd say 8:00 pm (bed time) on Friday, Sal and I may get a bad case of home/Isaac-sickness. So leave me a comment of how you and yours made it! Thanks!! Love you all!!!

OK First of all Central Market is my favorite place ever---get some bread and olives and bring back the the hotel (and a bottle of wine!) Just remember you are leaving Isaac with his grandparents and what an amazing experience to have the moments with the three of them together (without mom around!) That is important for him to have, remember that and you will be fine!

Sorry I didn't see this post before you left. My advice to you, as a Mommy, would be to remember that your first love (besides Jesus, of course) is your husband. And when you go out of town, it's a perfect opportunity to remind him (and yourself) how important he is to you. Focus on him, not how much you miss your son. Also, gather some scriptures on a notecard if you need to - that remind you how God is holding your little one in safety while you are apart.

To make this a special time for Isaac while you're gone, arrange for some fun playtime with things he doesn't normally get to do. (Playdoh? A new fun toy? A tirp to the park?) Make it a special time for him and the grandparents.
Love you!
