Safety Lock....yeah right

Anyone with children believes that their kid is the smartest, but I really really believe that Isaac is on the genius level! haha! He's almost got the safety locks figured out. He pulls the door out, study's the white lock, slides his finger down and pushes with all his little might!

"Are you watching?"

"Ugggh, almost got it"

"I'm not giving up...too much pressure with the camera mom!"

OK So maybe he didn't open the door yet, but he figured out the battery box!! He's so smart!

Silly Face

One thing we've noticed about Isaac is he makes some silly faces! Within the first 48 hours of meeting him last year, he made this face where he scrunched his nose -

He still does this!

But Today I caught a new one

"hmmmmm???"

So he doesn't laugh ALL the time!

Sal made an appointment for Isaac to get some pictures made, awww how thoughtful right? I thought so too :) So when Isaac woke up from his nap Saturday, I got him dressed in his new shirt and jeans he got from his birthday, and fixed his hair in an awesome Mohawk and off we went to get the pictures made, HOORAY!!!

We got there at our appointed time (12:45 and there was a HORRIBLE line) we waited for almost TWO hours! Isaac was a trooper never fussed, walked around, played, laughed, he was happy. Then it was our turn...he was giggling and playing up until the very moment we walked into the room - then the tears started...WHAT!?

The only thing I can figure is that the photographer was not anyone familiar and there was a table for him to sit on - all of this Isaac associated with going to the doctor (strange man, scary table). Needless to say Isaac didn't get his picture made Saturday - in fact the only way he would calm down was if I was holding him and he had his pacifier in his mouth. So there will be pictures of me (not at all prepared for pictures) and my son with his pacifier in his mouth....GREAT!

The ironic thing is tha as soon as we walked out of the room, Isaac was all smiles once again. Tell me he's not smart, tell me he hasn't figured out how to get his way, yeah the next 18 years are going to be a fun ride huh?!

No pictures to post, but I will have mommy/son pictures in a couple of weeks to show off or burn:) heehee. Anyways, I just wanted to share my story to hopefully make someone laugh!

Isaac Walks!!!

We've watched him walk with his walker, we've noticed he started standing from a squat, and we've also seen him standing alone touching nothing, so I figured the day would come and he would take off walking....and he did!!!

**Side Note** For the past year I have struggled with the idea of someone else (Maw-maw or Gigi) getting to see all of the firsts in Isaac's life, while I am at work when my one desire is to be with Isaac, well he walked for the first time, I mean really walked, on Tuesday when it was just the two of us! How awesome is our God to allow for such a milestone to be witnessed by Isaac's mommy - I'm in tears thinking about it!**

Back to my story - here's what happened...I took Isaac for his 12 month well visit Tuesday, Isaac got FOUR shots - 2 in each leg, 2 in the muscle two in the fat OUCH!!! So I figured he would sleep for a loooong time once I got him home. Well, he only slept for 20 minutes. When he woke up, I fed him and set him on his feet - AND HE STARTED WALKING!!!! He toddled over to his toy chest!! It was amazing!! So that evening I caught it on video the lighting isn't that great but you can still see him walk!

**Another Side Note** Thinking back I believe God has proven himself gracious through this entire first year of Isaac's life. His first smile, first roll over, first word, first crawl, and now first steps all done in front of Sal and Me - HOW AMAZING! Remembering that gives me the strength to continue being obedient and trusting that we are in the middle of God's will for our lives. To know that God knows how important all those firsts were to us that he allowed our son to share them with us first - WOW, humbling...

We had Isaac's FIRST Birthday party Saturday - it was perfect!! Isaac had fun playing with his friends, opening presents, and eating cake (lots of cake)! I will post more pictures as I get them! Enjoy!

Surprisingly enough he didn't get too messy - I was hoping he would have had it EVERYwhere. What we discovered, he really doesn't like his hands to be dirty...he wanted them wiped off quickly. Even after all the cake he ate he still took a looong nap, I guess all the excitement wore him out!

The highlight of the day (one of them at least) was when Isaac flung cake in Sal's face while we were trying to take a picture with him. It was so funny! Sal had it on his forehead, up his nose...priceless. I think Shannon got pictures of it so I will post it soon!

Thanks to everyone who celebrated with us - those who were there and those who couldn't be. We know you guys were thinking of us, we were thinking of you!!!

Big Boy Hair Cut!

Isaac's had his hair "trimmed" before, but Friday we decided it was time to cut it short...so we waited until he woke up from his nap and had a full belly to ensure he would be somewhat cooperative. The most wonderful young lady cut his hair - Kristian (Christian) - at Comedy Cuts in Port Neches. She was absolutely amazing and patient with Isaac, so if you live around here and need to get your little one's hair cut, go see Kristian!

Isaac sat in a Corvet and played with the steering wheel and watched Madagascar while she cut his hair - she did it with scissors only!

We think he must have known he got a hair cut, because we went out to eat after his hair cut and his personality was 10 times bigger then it was earlier in the day!

Who Knew????

I was putting the dishes away the other night and I noticed Isaac had disappeared....I heard the pitter patter of his little hands on the bathroom floor and I knew what he was doing. He LOVES to dig in the drawers, pulling out the lint brush, hair spray, anything his little hands can grab. So I peeked around the corner, camera in hand and look what I saw him doing.....

who knew! He has a knack for SuDoKu!!!! Haha!

Isaac's Birthday

Wednesday was Isaac's FIRST Birthday!!! We celebrated all day long! Sal woke him up singing, we went to the park to play, he got his first pair of tennis shoes, and he ate his first cupcake!!! It was a great day - that evening we went to our friend's house (Brock and Meagan) to bring in the new year...except that we were home by 10 :) Anyways, All of the mom's sang Happy Birthday to Isaac - and all the kids came running looking for the cake! It was priceless - Thank you Shannon for starting the song!!! Next weekend is his party, so there will be a lot more pictures!! Enjoy these!
